چکیده

Papadatos, C., Alexiou, D., Nicolopoulos, D., Mikropoulos, H., and Hadzigeorgiou, E. (1974). Archives of Disease in Childhood, 49, 927. Congenital hypoplasia of depressor anguli oris muscle: a genetically determined condition? The frequency of hypoplasia of the depressor anguli oris muscle was 37 cases among 4 530 consecutive births (8 -2 %). Diagnosis was based on clinical and electromyographic studies. Severe congenital anomalies were detected in 3 of the 37 cases, while another 3 newborns had minor congenital defects. In 17 of the 37 cases there were firstor second-degree relatives with lower lip asymmetry. A minimum of 13 out of the 74 parents of the probands were affected. The high incidence of affection among first-degree relatives of the probands is strong evidence of hereditary factors playing a role in the aetiology of this anomaly.

Placebo Responses in Genetically Determined Intellectual Disability: A Meta-Analysis

BACKGROUND Genetically determined Intellectual Disability (ID) is an intractable condition that involves severe impairment of mental abilities such as learning, reasoning and predicting the future. As of today, little is known about the placebo response in patients with ID. OBJECTIVE To determine if placebo response exists in patients with genetically determined ID. DATA SOURCES AND STUDY S...

The Effect of Heat Shock on Production of Recombinant Human Interferon Alpha 2a (rhIFN α -2a) by Escherichia coli

Recombinant human interferon alpha 2a (rhIFN α -2a) production and cell growth were monitored in a set of genetically modified E. coli strains (MSD1519, MSD1520, MSD 1521, MSD 1522, MSD 1523) producing rhIFN α -2a. The growth was followed at OD 600 nm, changes in cell physiology were detected by pyrolysis mass spectrometry (PyMS) of cell biomass and recombinant protein production was determined...

Activity of thalamic reticular neurons during spontaneous genetically determined spike and wave discharges.

This study reports the first intracellular recordings obtained during spontaneous, genetically determined spike and wave discharges (SWDs) in nucleus reticularis thalami (NRT) neurons from the genetic absence epilepsy rats from Strasbourg (GAERS), a model that closely reproduces the typical features of childhood absence seizures. A SWD started with a large hyperpolarization, which was independe...

Familial bilateral macular colobomata.

A mother and daugher had a life-long history of poor vision and photophobia, bilateral macular colobomata, and retinal pigment epithelial abnormalities; psychoelectrophysiological testing indicated extensive loss of cone or cone-rod function. These cases suggest this is a genetically determined condition unrelated to infection.

Contemporary Reviews in Cardiovascular Medicine Iron Overload Cardiomyopathy in Clinical Practice

The cardiomyopathies are heart muscle diseases of primary or secondary origin. Primary cardiomyopathies are often of unknown cause, hence their treatment is limited to general heart failure management. In secondary cardiomyopathies, in contrast, the identification of the underlying cause allows for a more specific, hence effective, approach that, when applied early, may prevent the development ...
